Descripción:
The Hadoop Cluster Administrator should be passionate about system administration and learning new technologies, willing to improve and support Hadoop clusters.
Considering we are working in distributed teams between United States, India and Chile to perform research and development on how to improve our analytical assets in USA, Australia and Canada, the Hadoop Cluster Administrator should have an intermediate/high English language level written and spoken.
Additionally, this profile should have flexibility to work in moving time spans, given the time zone differences between countries, and doing upgrades on weekends.
Responsibilities
Attend to all the scheduled meetings, having a high participation in the team.
Report the status of the issues, workarounds and solutions to the team.
Prioritize and give proper solutions to users.
Give the status of the current process to the team leader.
Keep track of different requests using a proprietary issue tracking product.
Learn about all the technologies involved in the project (See Qualification requirements below).
Work in a privileged account security architecture, caring about all the security policies involved.
Keep proposing new and better ways to solve problems from technology view or process view.
Ensure that every cluster and services, are always available without performance issues, using monitoring and alert tools.
Support the team with value creation, creativity and innovation.
Make documentation and improve the existing one.
Automate daily tasks using different scripts and technologies.
Make proofs of concept to different projects.
Upgrade software related to the production environments.
Work with different team members and sometimes with other teams.
Gain a deeper knowledge of the protocols and services in production.
Install and configure new environments and tools.
Requisitos:
* +1 year of application support or development experience
Academic:
* Completed University degree in Computer Science or related
* Upper Intermediate english level, written and spoken (B1/B2 level desirable).
* Soft-skills:
Technical-skills:
* Knowledge about distributed systems.
* Advanced Linux administration (Red Hat and SuSE distributions).
* Handle processes and services.
* Manage of local file systems.
* Software management.
* User and group management.
* File and directory permissions and ownership.
* Network administration.
* Shell scripting and automation of tasks.
* Knowledge about different protocols and services:
* Java services (JVM, configuration, Service and process management).
* SSH * HTTP * DNS * NTP * FTP/SFTP *
Database administration:
* MySQL.
* PostgreSQL.
